Pietro was born about 1768 in Pratola Peligna, L'Aquila, Italy, the son of Saverio Santacroce and Francesca d'Alessandro.

His wife was Maria Nunzia Pizzoferrato, who he married in ABT 1792. The place has not been found. Their six known children were Anna Domenica (c1797-?), Anna Antonia (c1798-?), Anna Maria (c1800-?), Cristina (c1800-1815), Rocco Antonio (c1804-?) and Maria Carmela (1812-1815).
