Domenico was born about 1795 in Pratola Peligna, L'Aquila, Italy, the son of Pietro Pizzoferrato and Prassede Notarandrea.

His wife was Maria Anna Rosa Palombizio, who he married in ABT 1816. The place has not been found. Their six known children were Vincenzo (1818-1860), Maria (c1822-1824), Elisabetta (1823-?), Rosa Alba (1828-1832), Salvatore (1831-?) and Carmine Antonio (1834-?).
