Francesco was born about 1779 in Pratola Peligna, L'Aquila, Italy, the son of Pietro Antonio Petrella and Alba Rosa Petrella.
He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Anna Domenica d'Achille. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their seven known children were Maria Crocifissa (c1805-?), Raffaela (c1809-?), Luigi (c1810-?), Venanzo Rocco (1811-?), Maria Carmina Carolina (1815-1817), Maria Giuseppa (1817-?) and Maria Carolina (1820-1821).
His second wife was Maria Luigia Santilli, who he married on 24 SEP 1833 in Pratola Peligna, L'Aquila, Italy. They had no known children.
