Vincenzo was born about 1789 in Lettopalena, Chieti, Italy, the son of Carlo Filippo Martinelli and Marta Maddonna Rinaldi.

His wife was Fiorenza DiPaolo. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their three known children were Nicola (c1802-1860), Filippo (c1819-?) and Marta (1823-<1887).
