Domenico was born about 1791 in Pratola Peligna, L'Aquila, Italy, the son of Nicola Margiotta but his mother is unknown.
His wife was Maria Concezia Santilli. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their five known children were Maria Vincenza Agata (1811-?), Liberato Antonio (1815-?), Nicola (1818-?), Gaetano (1822-?) and Sebastiano (1830-?).
