Maria was born about 1790 in Pratola Peligna, L'Aquila, Italy, the daughter of Sebastiano deStephanis and Berardina Santangelo.
She had two marriages/partners. Her first husband was Venanzo Pizzoferrato, who she married in ABT 1814. The place has not been found. Their only known child was Angela Maria Barbara (1815-1815).
Her second husband was Giuseppe Petrella, who she married on 19 DEC 1816 in Pratola Peligna, L'Aquila, Italy. Their nine known children were Domenico Antonio (1818-1830), Rosalia (1819-1821), Luigi (1821-?), Sebastiano (1824-?), Panfilo (c1827-1827), Fioravante (1828-?), Raffaele (1830-?), Berardina (1832-?) and Domenico (1834-?).
