Domenico was born about 1785 in Pratola Peligna, L'Aquila, Italy, the son of Giuseppe Valeri and Liberata Tarantello.

His wife was Maria Vincenza Calisi, who he married in ABT 1811. The place has not been found. Their six known children were Maria Maddalena (1812-?), Pietro (1819-1820), Luigi (1821-1825), Giuseppe (1825-1826), Liberato Antonio (1827-1827) and Pasqua Rosa (1828-1828).
