James A. ``Jim'' Travisano, 73, retired fire chief of the Wilmerd
Volunteer Fire Department, died suddenly Wednesday, April 19, 200
Jim was a lifelong resident of Wilmerding Borough, and a lifelong
servant to mankind as a cooperative and dedicated volunteer. He
graduated from W.M.H.S. and entered the U.S. Army Air Corps durin
World War II. He worked at the WABCO plant, retiring as a pipe
fitter. Jim was chief of the Wilmerding Fire Department for a tot
of 14 years, but served the fire department consecutively for 45
years. During his tenure as chief, Jim received numerous
commendations from national, state, and local officials. He was a
honorary lifetime member of the Wilmerding EMS and Eastern Area P
a member of the VFW and the Italyn-American War Veterans. He was
member of St. Jude the Apostle Church, where he served as an ushe

a master of it. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio
Michelina. He is survived by sisters, Christine and Val Travisano
Philomena (late John) Palmieri; and brothers, Nick (Mary), Peter
(Connie), Paul (Suzanne) and Joseph (Linda) Travisano; and numero
nieces and nephews.
