Orazio was born about 1766 in Pratola Peligna, L'Aquila, Italy, the son of Nunzio Tofano and Lucia Palombizio.

He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Liberata deStephanis, who he married in ABT 1788. The place has not been found. Their two known children were Maria Cristina (c1790-1820) and Giuseppe Antonio (c1804-?).

His second wife was Maria Cristina Pizzoferrato, who he married on 9 MAR 1816 in Pratola Peligna, L'Aquila, Italy. They had no known children.
