Berardino was born about 1832, the son of Giannangelo Leone but his mother is unknown. The place is not known.
His wife was Palma DiNatale. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their four known children were Giannangelo (1868-?), Mariano (1870-1873), Gioacchino (1872-?) and Prudenza (1874-1874).
