Rocco was born on 6 DEC 1832 in Pratola Peligna, L'Aquila, Italy, the son of Francesco Saverio d'Amato and Anna Antonia d'Alessandro.

He had two marriages/partners. His first wife was Maria Zavarella. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their three known children were Elisabetta (1859-?), Panfilo (1862-?) and Agata (1865-?).

His second wife was Concetta Lattanzio, who he married on 27 AUG 1874. The place has not been found. They had no known children.
