Donato was born about 1747 in Opi, the son of Gregorio Cipriani and Elisabetta Cipriani.

His wife was Pasqua Ciarelli. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their six known children were Anna Arcangela (c1775-1845), Mattia (c1783-1848), Angeladea (1785-?), Maria (c1791-1853), Giovanni (1791-1868) and Sante (c1793-?).
