Maria was born about 1851 in Prata D'Ansidonia, L'Aquila, Italy, the daughter of Ferdinando Cherubino and Antonina Galassi.
Her husband was Michelangelo Tomassi. They were married, but the date and place have not been found. Their seven known children were Maria Angela Rosa (1882-?), Maria (1883-?), Luigi (1885-?), Diletta Maria (1886-?), Roberto Antonio (1888-?), Alicandro (1891-?) and Sofia (1894-?).
