Giovanni was born about 1781 in Pratola Peligna, L'Aquila, Italy, the son of unknown parents.
His wife was Maria Gaetana Mastrangioli, who he married in ABT 1808. The place has not been found. Their thirteen known children were Domenico (c1809-1815), Giuseppe (c1810-1811), Anna Felicia (1811-1812), Maria Giuseppa (1812-1813), Giuseppe Antonio (1814-?), Maria Domenica (1816-1816), Domenico (1818-1818), Carmine Antonio (1819-1820), Angela Raffaele (1821-?), Maria Giacinta (1824-1825), Rosa (c1825-1826), Carmine Antonio (1827-1827) and Maria Cristina (1828-?).
