Leonardo was born about 1761 in Pratola Peligna, L'Aquila, Italy, the son of unknown parents.
His wife was Anna Diletta d'Andrea, who he married in ABT 1790. The place has not been found. Their four known children were Angiola (c1791-1828), Giuseppe (c1800-?), Maria Nicola (c1800-1831) and Anna Rosa (1811-1812).
